SCANDAL SHEET

by Gemma Halliday
review by Allie Quick

Tina Bender is the gossip columnist extraordinaire at Los Angeles's premier tabloid magazine. She knows everything about everyone who's anyone, and she's not afraid to print it. That is, until she receives a threatening note, promising, "If you don't stop writing about me, you're dead." Taking the threat seriously, her editor saddles her with built bodyguard Calvin Dean, whose charming smile and alpha dog attitude heats up both Tina's temper and her libido. But when the threats escalate to actual violence - and murder! - Tina realizes this is far more than a headline. Making an uneasy alliance with Dean, Tina teams up with a bubbly blonde, an alcoholic obituary writer, and a pair of overzealous octogenarians to uncover just which juicy piece of Hollywood gossip is worth killing over.

Halliday starts her new series off with a bang! This book was a fun, fast-paced roller coaster of hot romance, sizzling celebrity scandals, and danger lurking at every turn. Both laugh out loud funny and edge-of-your-seat intense, I couldn't put this page-turner down. Tina Bender is the west coast's answer to Stephanie Plum - but with purple hair, a hot pink motorcycle, and an attitude to knock your socks off. This book gets five stars and a definite place on my keeper shelf!

And, if you enjoy this one, be sure to check out Halliday's previous series, the award winning High Heels Mysteries, where high crime meets high fashion in fabulous Beverly Hills.
